This garden is located in a stunning coastal location. The remit of this project was to create a striking planting design that is both naturalistic and tolerant of the exposed seaside conditions.

In garden design, the context or setting where the site to be designed is-key to all decisions, especially about plants. The fact that this garden is situated in both a coastal and rural setting has to influence all of the plant choices.
As an experienced garden designer Carol believes that the objective of a planting design is to blend in with its surroundings and be appropriate for the environmental conditions. This can involve the strategic use of native plants to enhance the local ecosystem also. In this planting design out of 28 species 10 species are native or cultivars of native plants. This approach not only promotes biodiversity but also ensures that the new planting is in tune with the indigenous flora, supporting local wildlife and creating a sustainable habitat.
